If the sandal fits…

My need for shoes has not stopped. Yes, I’m going on a trip and I’ll need some sandals, but it’s also the season of sandals.

So, I’ve been out shopping and this is what I’ve found:

I was excited to try this pair on.  They have a thicker sole and are made of leather, but they were totally uncomfortable. The heel area is slightly moulded and my foot didn’t fit the mould.  #sosad

My local Marshall’s had Kate Spade for under $100.  Sure, they have a little bling, but they are KATE SPADE!!  I didn’t buy them, but a few other women had them in their carts.

Also at Marshall’s was this pair. Fringe is totally on trend right now.  Not sure how I feel about this sandal, but I’m guessing it was pretty popular at Coachella.  #justsaying

If you have plenty of time to put this shoe on, then the gladiator sandal is the one for you.  Strap it and wrap it.  This particular brand was unfamiliar to me, but it had a soft flexible sole and would probably be fairly comfortable for strolling around.  #cutebutnotforme

Now, I have to ask, but who would buy a Valentino at Marshall’s?  Second question, who would pay $800 for a sandal at Marshall’s?  I get that it’s the place for designers at a better price, but if I had $800 for shoes, I wouldn’t be buying sandals at Marshall’s.  Would you?

This is the pair I bought at DSW back in February.  They are pretty comfortable and that colour goes with everything.

My newest purchase is this pair of Matt and Nat sandals.  They are flexible, the sole has a slight cushion and since they are ec0-friendly and vegan, they are pretty easy to wear.  I haven’t ventured too far in them, so not sure if they are comfortable enough to make it on my trip.  #butyouneverknow

Have you found any summer sandals yet?  I’m always looking, so feel free to share any finds with me.

Pinned & Tried

It has been quite a while since I posted a Pinned & Tried – any edition.  Over the past week, this rainy weather has had me looking at pictures and photos of a sunnier time.  Say, last summer?

It got me thinking to this outfit that I saw on Pinterest:

Cute and easy, eh?

I realized I had pretty much every piece in my wardrobe. I mean, really, who doesn’t have have a striped maxi dress and a jean jacket in her closet these days?

So, here’s my recreation:

The striped dress is from Joe Fresh and I liked it so much I bought another one in black and grey 🙂  The jean jacket is actually quite old, but hasn’t been worn much, so it is like new!  The purse is light grey and from Kate Spade.  You can’t seem my feet, but I think I was wearing flip flops or flat white sandals.

I guess the only sad thing about this Pinned & Tried is that I don’t have cognac coloured accessories or shoes.  So, those are now on my list for this upcoming Spring/Summer wardrobe.

I did pick up these flip flops from DSW on a recent trip to Palm Springs:

They are pretty comfortable, but I think I will keep looking for more of a sandal than a flip flop in this colour.

I have my eye on this great bag from Matt & Nat:

So in closing, I would call this a fairly successful Pinned & Tried.  But just wait until I get that new bag to complete the look!

Pinned & Tried

This is the fashion edition of pinned and tried.  It almost shouldn’t be posted, because it was too easy.  When I put this together to go to a movie the other night, my husband commented and said I looked nice.  Nothing wrong with the compliment, but an outfit that was this easy got a compliment and that surprised me.

Here is the pin-spiration:

Here is my version:

pinned and tried

Long sleeved white James Perse top, black Mavi jeggings, brown boots bought at DSW ages ago and necklace made by a local artist.

The main reason this outfit works is because of the brown boots.  I tend to always read for black boots with black pants, but seeing this pin-spiring outfit made me try the brown boots and I’m glad I did.  I don’t own a brown purse, but I might put it on my shopping list as I am getting tired of always using a black one.

Overall, this is another successful pinned and tried fashion edition.

Pinned it and wore it

I saw this outfit on Pinterest and thought to myself….winner!  This is something I could easily wear day to day.   Then, I thought, how hard would this be to put together ?

28851253834210355_WbVB5gBl_c

Well, it was so easy!   I already had a pair of black jeggings from the Gap and a white tank.  I also had a pair of cognac brown boots that I had bought a couple years ago at DSW (love that store!).  I didn’t have a chambray shirt, so while I was wandering the mall on my own last week (a rare occurrence), I found this tunic style denim shirt at Old Navy.

The end result ?

Finally, after pinning so many pins, I finally put one to good use and I think I’ll do it again!
