Pinned & Tried

It has been quite a while since I posted a Pinned & Tried – any edition.  Over the past week, this rainy weather has had me looking at pictures and photos of a sunnier time.  Say, last summer?

It got me thinking to this outfit that I saw on Pinterest:

Cute and easy, eh?

I realized I had pretty much every piece in my wardrobe. I mean, really, who doesn’t have have a striped maxi dress and a jean jacket in her closet these days?

So, here’s my recreation:

The striped dress is from Joe Fresh and I liked it so much I bought another one in black and grey 🙂  The jean jacket is actually quite old, but hasn’t been worn much, so it is like new!  The purse is light grey and from Kate Spade.  You can’t seem my feet, but I think I was wearing flip flops or flat white sandals.

I guess the only sad thing about this Pinned & Tried is that I don’t have cognac coloured accessories or shoes.  So, those are now on my list for this upcoming Spring/Summer wardrobe.

I did pick up these flip flops from DSW on a recent trip to Palm Springs:

They are pretty comfortable, but I think I will keep looking for more of a sandal than a flip flop in this colour.

I have my eye on this great bag from Matt & Nat:

So in closing, I would call this a fairly successful Pinned & Tried.  But just wait until I get that new bag to complete the look!

Roar ?

I snapped this picture of my daughter going to school one day.  Little did she know that animal prints are in.  She just loves Baby Jaguar from Diego and the more of this pattern she can own and wear, the better.  I personally, cannot tell the difference between a jaguar, a cheetah and a leopard.  I suspect the prints that she is wearing are not really Baby Jaguar, but one of his cat cousins.
I too, have added a little baby jaguar animal print to my wardrobe.  I ordered these shoes online from Banana Republic last Spring after finding them and not buying them in Palm Springs last Fall.   I had big time buyer’s regret and vow not to do that again.
I also own this scarf and belt:
I am limiting my animal prints to just these 3 accessories.  At my age (mid-forties), I don’t think I can quite pull off the same look my daughter can.  But I can do this:
And that is just enough baby jaguar for me!

Starting the week off

Sunday is the official start of the week. To start off this last week of our challenge, I wore this on Mother’s Day:

It’s an orange striped top from J Crew, cute floral flats from my Palm Springs vacation and my Hudson jeans (yes, again). I really need to get another great pair of jeans since I am wearing my Hudsons way too frequently!

Although our weather was very grey, I wasn’t!

It’s here!

Last week, the US based store,Marshalls opened in Vancouver. I was quite keen to check out this store.  I was in the Palm Springs store last Fall and had scored a few good buys.

This store has only been open a few days, so it was clean and bright, and full of a great assortment of clothing, shoes and accessories. I would have to say the shoe department impressed me the most. An amazing selection at every price point! Check out these Coach flip flops in this great orange colour:

Depending on your budget, you might need these:

I also thought this sweater was cute:

I didn’t buy any of those things, but I did come home with a new white shirt. You can never have enough white shirts.  Can you?
