Fun Finds

It feels like forever since I did a little shopping.  Thankfully, I had a few hours with nothing planned so I went to Winners.   If you haven’t heard of Winners, it’s the Canadian version of TJ Maxx – in fact that’s who owns them!

First stop…the shoe department!

These big yellow taxi flip flops by Kate Spade were so cute and only $30!  I’m thinking they would be cute for a birthday gift for a friend or sister.

Then I saw these Vince slip ons. Can you say excited?  Well, I was until I tried them on. They were my size but each shoe fit differently – boo!

These floral slip ons looked fun and would have been great for Spring . They were too narrow for me, but maybe they would fit you?

Around the corner front the shoes sat this suede baseball cap.  So simple and classic in grey and black!  Only $19.99!  #steal

I slowly wandered to the home decor aisles and saw this picture.  I thought it would be a great way to add a little colour to a room.

And this two pack of pillows was in just my shade of blue for $29.99!

Then I ventured into the health and beauty section.  Retinol  (vitamin A) is always being mentioned as a must have for your skin as you age.  I am not familiar with this brand and thought I would need to investigate a little more before I bought it.

Vitamin C serums also seem to be the one thing you should put on your skin, too.  Again, I hadn’t heard of this brand, but with a little research it might be on my buy list next time.

I have heard of Kiss My Face and I wrote about them recently in a post about body care products.  I like to wear sunscreen every day, so I picked up the sunscreen cream for everyday use.  I have used it for the past couple days and it goes on easily and was only $10! #goodbuy

Well, that wraps up this little trip to Winners.  As you can see I only bought one thing, but I might go back and see if that picture is still there.  And maybe those pillows…

Just 2 things

You know those days when you put on your clothes and you’re feeling blah?  The clothes look fine (or maybe they don’t), but you just aren’t feeling it?

Then there are the days where you feel like you have kicked it up a notch (thanks, Emeril). You know those days, right?

Well, there are two pieces in my wardrobe that make me feel pretty good or even cool when I wear them.  It’s my faux leather jacket and my animal print slip ons.

A couple of years ago, I was shopping with friends and they were hot on buying a leather or faux leather jacket.  I didn’t realize they were back in style. Not surprising as I am usually late to any fashion party 😉   When I saw the moto style jacket on them, I thought hmmm, maybe this is a trend I should jump on. So, I jumped and found myself this faux moto style jacket at Winners (the Canadian version of Marshalls).  I honestly wasn’t sure how often I would wear it, so I thought I’d test the waters before I invested the big bucks into a real leather jacket.  It was less than $50, so how could I refuse it?  Here we are two years later and I still have it.  I don’t wear it a lot, but when I do?  I feel pretty darn good in it.

My second feel good item?  The animal print shoes.  They are another purchase from Winners.  Steve Madden has made these easy to wear, comfortable and fashionable shoes and I absolutely love them.  They might just be my favourite pair.

It’s hard to believe that just these two pieces can change how I feel.  Do you have something in your closet that you absolutely love?  I’m curious to know what it is.

Now that the kids are back in school, I have a bit more time to myself.  So, with this time, I have hit a few of the local and not so local stores.  Here’s what I have found on my travels:

Pinned & Tried

Hello!

Long time, no post!  I have just returned from sunny Mexico!

This was my view every morning!  Nothing grey about this holiday at all.  Not the weather, nor the clothes!

IMG_3518

Before my trip, I was out shopping at Marshall’s with friends one evening when I stumbled across a very cool, yet simply styled moto jacket for $69.99!  Unfortunately, it wasn’t my size, but it was my friend’s size.  As much as she felt guilty about the purchase, she went home with the jacket.  I decided then and there that I really wanted a moto jacket, so I went home and started pinning.

These two pictures caught my attention; the first one showing how to dress up the moto and the second one is a more casual look.

Before my trip, I took a quick trip to Winners and found my own moto jacket!  It was a very simple style and only $29.99!   Before I knew it, we were through the check out stand and the jacket was mine!  I hung it up and pretty much forgot about it until I returned from vacation.

The day after we returned home, I was headed out for dinner with friends and I knew I wanted to wear my moto jacket.  I didn’t know exactly how to wear it, so I re-created the Pinterest image from above.

This was an easy look to put together.  The top was a Macy’s find last Fall, dark skinny jeans, Geox booties and my new moto!  Love my new jacket and can’t wait to wear it more.  If you have any other ideas on how to wear it, let me know!

I count this as a successful Pinned & Tried!
